Critical Issues

Our town deserves balanced, representative leadership that welcomes diverse perspectives and thoughtful debate. Effective government is strengthened when ideas are challenged, decisions are carefully examined, and every voice has an opportunity to be heard.

A one-party municipal government is not representative, and now is the time to change that!

The challenges ahead demand thoughtful planning, fiscal discipline, and a long-term vision focused on protecting taxpayer dollars, preserving our quality of life, and ensuring East Greenwich remains an affordable and financially strong community for generations to come.

  • Our town budget is facing increasing fiscal pressure as expenditures continue to outpace revenue growth.
  • This is the 2nd consecutive year where our residential tax levy exceeds the state mandated 4% cap. This is a very concerning trend and not sustainable for many residents.
  • It has already been stated that our residential tax levy will likely exceed the state mandated 4% cap again next year.
  • While incorrectly blaming the State of Rhode Island for running out of funds, current town leadership missed the opportunity to secure the much needed State of Rhode Island "Pay as You Go" funding for the school construction bond project.
  • Our town is facing major infrastructure and facility investment decisions, including the planned decommissioning of the Eldredge School in the summer of 2027. Yet, we still do not know the fate of this deeply valued building. Should the same leadership that failed to secure State "Pay-Go" funding be entrusted with managing the town's future infrastructure projects?
  • The town is working to address the State's affordable housing requirements through the long-overdue update of our Comprehensive Plan. Now is the time for residents to make their voices heard by attending the upcoming community engagement workshops.
